It has been officially announced that Diederik Boer is returning to PEC Zwolle after joining Ajax back in 2014.
36 year old, Boer, was originally signed from PEC Zwolle where he featured for the club extensively, totalling 293 appearances. In 2014, Ajax signed him from PEC Zwolle for a fee of £850k. Boer found his place as a reserve keeper where he provided backup behind Cillessen.
With André Onana cementing himself as the number one keeper following the departure of Cillessen, and signing a new contract in the process, the services of Boer were no longer required. His time at Ajax saw him gain a total of just 11 official appearances.
