Within the confines of the ever-prosperous Ajax production facility, positive things are happening once again as the club looks to set plans in motion for the future.
Undoubtedly, there are a number of young, exciting players coming through in the academy who can make a difference over the next few years, and there is hope that they can form the foundation of a team that can excite once again.

One of these players is Tijn Peters, and he has begun to attract the type of comparisons that make a die-hard fan’s mouth water. There are those in the know who see him as somewhat of an heir to now Barcelona star, Frenkie De Jong, who came up through the academy before going on to grace the European stage. Meanwhile, last season, Peters also extended his contract until 2027.
An Elite Star In The Making
While there are many talented players in the academy, Peters could be a standout, which is definitely saying something. A central midfielder with the kind of grace that is taught so well, while already possessing the type of mental traits of a seasoned professional. Peters has it naturally. Positionally astute, elegant on the ball and blessed with vision, he is also, of course, well-stocked technically and understands more than understands tactics.
He can also comfortably undertake any role in the centre of the park, whether it is that of a ball-winning midfielder, deep-lying playmaker, box-to-box player, or a number 10 – he can fulfil all of these very capably. Probably, you would say he is a hybrid, though; between a number 8 and number 10, and it won’t be long until he gets on the radar of top European clubs.
A club obviously renowned for nurturing world-class midfielders over the years (especially Dutch), Peters and his representatives will be encouraged that he is in the right place and on the right track.
Peters has the ability and potential to become a world-renowned midfielder in time if he continues his development and stays fit. While the De Jong comparison is there, you would be forgiven for thinking that his style also resembles that of Kevin De Bruyne, who went on to become arguably one of the best midfielders in Europe.
Encouraging For The Netherlands If He Can Go All The Way
Should Peters reach the top (and there is no reason why he can’t), then this is definitely great news for the future of the Dutch national team. It could be said that, not since Wesley Sneijder has there been a player who has had a level of impact that Peters can have in that position, though he will need to stay grounded.
While a move away from Ajax is likely to be inevitable in time, should he start to realise his potential, he will be more focused on breaking into the side and helping them to win trophies for now.
However, representing his country at senior level is a definite possibility if he continues growing and keeps his head down.
