All the major European clubs like to brand themselves and profit from the sale of everything connected with their organisation. Like any other of Europe’s elite clubs, Dutch giants Ajax sell all sorts of merchandise connected with the club.
However, what merch does Ajax sell, and where can you purchase items related to the club from the Dutch capital?
What merchandise does Ajax sell?
Like most big clubs, Ajax has a wide variety of merchandise available that is Ajax-branded. Well, the obvious place to start is the club’s kit. Along with the Ajax home kit, you can purchase the away kit and a third Adidas kit for European matches. Meanwhile, goalkeeper kits are also available.
Customers can, of course, personalise their new kits by adding names and numbers on the back of their shirts, as well as a number on the shorts.
Alongside kits, the club has a wide range of popular training gear. The training gear includes T-shirts, shorts, socks and of course tracksuits, which look fashionable and get good reviews for their quality and comfort. To go with the training gear, you can also purchase your Ajax-themed football.
One item that may well be of interest to the younger generation or even older fans is the Ajax hoodies, as there is a reasonably wide range of those available with the club’s branding.
For the training gear, the club has tried to make clothes that match the kits available in the current season, as the t-shirts and jackets tend to go well with the current first-team kits on sale.
The club also sells waterproof jackets, which have received good reviews for their ability to keep the rain out, something that can be highly useful in Amsterdam, considering the city’s highly changeable weather.
Also, cycling outfits, sweatbands, shin pads, goalkeeping gloves, and water bottles are included in the training range. Ajax even sells its own club-branded Adidas Samba trainers.
The club shop also sells the usual Ajax-related merchandise, such as cups, pens, lanyards, pins and badges. Around the festive period, the Dutch giants also bring out a range of Christmas jumpers, perfect for parties or family celebrations. They will keep you warm over the festive period while illustrating your love of the Dutch giants.
A unique Bob Marley collection
Due to the Ajax fan’s love of the Bob Marley song ‘Three Little Birds’, in the summer of 2021, the club released a whole Bob Marley collection of clothes to commemorate the Jamaican legend’s career and life.
This collection includes a unique black first-team shirt with red, yellow, and green trim. A fan version is also available, which has lyrics from various Bob Marley songs and also pictures of the music legend.
However, the collection doesn’t just include a commemorative shirt, as you can also buy t-shirts with various Ajax and Bob Marley themes. One of the most unique items may be an Ajax-branded ‘Three Little Birds’ single, which once again contains the three famous colours related to the music icon, as well as the Ajax crest.
When the collection was first released, you could also buy jumpers, trainers, and rucksacks, which once again contained references to the musician and the Dutch club. Although, at the time of writing, they are unavailable on the club’s official online store, you may be able to purchase them elsewhere.
Where is the best place to buy official Ajax merchandise?
For official and genuine merchandise, the best place to go is the club’s official online shop. The online shop usually has most of the items we talked about earlier and adds new items on a regular basis. The good news is that they ship worldwide, including to the UK.
However, if you are in Amsterdam, then a good alternative would be to visit the club shop, which is inside the club’s Johan Cruyff Arena. Like the online shop, the club shop will fulfil all your Ajax merchandise needs, as it sells most of the items listed above.
If you are in Amsterdam and don’t want to take a trip to the club’s stadium, there are several sportswear shops in the centre of the Dutch capital city that sell Ajax merchandise, including a smaller club shop that sells mainly kits and training gear but has a surprisingly large selection of Ajax-related items for a shop of its size.
Of course, there is also the option of buying Ajax merchandise at other online retailers. If you are in the UK, sportswear giants Sports Direct tend to have a decent selection of Ajax items, including all the current season kits and training gear.
Then there is online retail giant Amazon, where you can buy anything from kits to signed Ajax memorabilia. When looking for Ajax-related items, Google is your friend, too.
However, a small warning. Be careful when shopping online for Ajax items, as some items may not be genuine but may still prove costly to purchase anyway. Always use reputable retailers when buying your Ajax merchandise.
Although the club shops, both online and offline, may prove to be more costly, they offer you a guarantee that all merchandise is authentic and is not a cheap knock-off. The latter may well prove to provide poor value, as the non-genuine Ajax products are likely to be made of cheap material and won’t last long. With that in mind, happy hunting for your Ajax merchandise.
