Is Veltman bound for De Boer’s Crystal Palace?

Ever since Crystal Palace appointed former Ajax boss Frank de Boer as their new manager, Joël Veltman has been getting heavily linked with the Premier League side. With just 12 months left on his contract, could the 25-year-old defender be England-bound?

The Mirror were first to report on a possible reunion between De Boer and Veltman, more-or-less confirmed by the new Eagles head coach a few days later in an interview with Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad. “Veltman could be an option,” De Boer stated. “I know him well and what he’s capable of, but we haven’t spoken yet.”

And while Kurt Zouma and Mamadou Sakho are reportedly also candidates to strengthen the Crystal Palace defence, Steve Parish added more fuel to the Veltman fire. The owner and chairman of the London side went on SiriusXM and admitted he is working on a deal for a player that De Boer “knows well and feels good about”.

Veltman, who is supposedly also a target for Tottenham Hotspur, was offered a contract extension by Marc Overmars until 2020 last season but is yet to make up his mind. However, the academy graduate did inform the club he is considering a summer move.
