Ajax have signed 19-year-old Dennis Johnsen from Heerenveen for a reported fee of €2 million. The Norwegian winger put pen to paper on a four-year deal with the Amsterdammers.
Johnsen stated his delight in an interview with AjaxTV: “I am incredibly happy with my contract at Ajax. I know the people here have high expectations of me, and of course I will try my best to live up to them. I can’t wait to start training.”
The promising youngster, who joined the Superfriezen from Rosenborg back in 2015, was considered the prime candidate to succeed star player Sam Larsson at Heerenveen.
Technical director Gerrit Hamstra admitted to being disappointed with his departure: “It’s sad to see such a promising young talent leave the club before even making his first team debut. We tried our best to keep him on board but wish him all the best in Amsterdam.”
