No complaints following Mitchell Dijks’ dismissal

Following their 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers at Carrow Road, Norwich City interim-manager Alan Irvine had no complaints with Mitchell Dijks’ first-half red card for an ugly challenge on Marvin Emnes.

“It was a red card,” he said. “The only thing I would say is Marvin Emnes handled, in my opinion, prior to the tackle.

“Had the free kick been given the tackle does not get made. Was it malicious from Mitchell’s point of view? No, it was one of those where he tries to put his foot over the ball to take it away and he has caught Emnes.

“He has misjudged it, mis-timed it. It is definitely a red card. You cannot complain about that.”

Ajax’s on-loan defender now has to sit out Saturday’s home fixture with Barnsley and the following games at Aston Villa and Huddersfield Town.
