Ibrahimovic ‘stronger’ after successful operation

Former Ajax striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic says he is “stronger” following a successful operation on his right knee. The 35-year-old Swede got injured during Manchester United’s Europa League return leg against Anderlecht. Medical examination showed he ruptured his cruciate ligament in his right knee, ruling him out for the remainder of the season.

Contrary to earlier reports, Zlatan’s agent Mino Raiola insists his client has not suffered a career-threatening injury. Instead, the Manchester United forward has already targeted a return. However, with his contract at Old Trafford running out at the end of the summer, he may have played his last game in the English Premier League.

Ajax signed Zlatan from Malmö back in 2001 for a fee of €8.7 million. The Swede made 52 appearances and scored a total of 35 goals before joining Italian giants Juventus. Two of his Ajax goals came in his Champions League debut against Olympique Lyonnais in 2002.
