Eredivisie predictions: ADO Den Haag – Ajax

Games against rivals ADO Den Haag aren’t always as competitive as they are intriguing. Due to their aversion and dislike for anything that comes from the Dutch capital, ADO fans more or less expect their team to inject an overwhelming amount of aggression and passion into their game plan. However, because of Ajax’ technical and tactical superiority, the Amsterdammers usually know how to deal with Den Haag’s physical approach. Usually. But this is an unusual season. Here’s what some of the most devoted Ajax followers expect from adoaja.

We’re facing an in-form team that really want to give their all against Ajax. That right there is enough to ensure loss of points at the moment, sadly.

Meanwhile Keizer still hasn’t found his final starting formation. I don’t see a future for the Dolberg + Huntelaar crammed into one team experiment. Dolberg is the striker Ajacieden deserve, but not the one we need right now. So we’ll Hunt him. Klaas-Jan up front is the way to go for now.

That backheel goal tho, Klasse Jan Huntelaar! ??? H I G H L I G H T S ▶️ https://t.co/1IreRSRsQp #ajapec https://t.co/wg3dazjm9f

Ajax is a club that should never hide behind the ref. Especially not before a minute of the match has been played. You can feel there’s a ‘but’ coming, right? Because Nijhuis will be the nail in our coffin again, I just know it. A draw is the maximum result against ADO. 1-1 is my prediciton.

Ps. And for God’s sake Keizer, bench Younes! The guys is desperate for some rest! I would even accept Dolberg on the left wing this time around.

I think Ajax still seem slightly erratic in terms of the general play but the signs seem to be pointing to some sort of a recovery as the finishing improves.

It’s interesting Keizer said Dolberg is his #1 striker but then didn’t confirm if he’d be starting, partly because I think Huntelaar has provided that finishing touch a bit more readily than the young Dane. It brings up the interesting dilemma of whether Ajax and Keizer prize results and points (and hence arguably more pragmatic choice of KJH) more or will show confidence in Dolberg as he tries to get out of his rough patch of form.

ADO away is always a tricky fixture but I think Ajax, given the recent relatively improved form, will take it 2-1. As always, thoughts and prayers with Appie Nouri and family.

It’s time for a change.

I wasn’t too happy with the line-up last week, in which both Dolberg and Huntelaar played from the start. There was no midfield and the distribution to the forwards was very poor. At the moment, I don’t want to see us starting in a 4-2-4 formation again.

And although I am a big fan of Dolberg, I believe Huntelaar should start against ADO. He simply deserves it. Let Dolberg get some rest so he can clear his mind. I would also start with Neres on the right wing. He is so important in creating chances. Give him full confidence and it will pay off. Besides, we can always substitute him for Kluivert after 60 minutes.

In midfield I’d play with Frenkie de Jong alongside Ziyech and Van de Beek. Keizer has already made it clear neither Wober nor Orejuela will be starting, so the back four is likely to be the same as in the previous games.

ADO can be a true angstgegner for Ajax, but I don’t see it happening on Sunday. Despite them playing at home, Ajax still is the better team. Huntelaar will show that he doesn’t care about a hostile environment and score, with the game ending in a clear 0-3 victory for the Amsterdammers. Ajax will dictate the midfield. On a sidenote: I hope Ricardo Kishna will get some playing time for ADO Den Haag and revive his career. As long as he stays healthy.

After a rough start to the season, Ajax are finally beginning to show what they are capable of. The only real question that remains is the striker position. Keizer emphasized once more that Dolberg is his main guy – even though he is lacking form – but I think Ajax will start with two strikers up front again against ADO Den Haag, with Younes and Neres on the flanks. Personally, I’d go with a 4-4-2 diamond formation, where Younes sits behind the two strikers and the midfield consists of Ziyech, Van de Beek and Frenkie de Jong.

I think the match will be an easy win, with yet another clean sheet for Onana. It’ll be interesting to see whether Ricardo Kishna gets to play against his former team, but I doubt he’ll be able to make a different. I expect a 0-2 win for Ajax.
